Vista Linda is a three-floor timber house on the hillside above Corumbê, ten minutes from Paraty's historic center — an infinity pool with a waterfall, a hot tub for seven, a whole floor of games, and room for sixteen.
A tall, generous house built of timber and glass, set high on the hill so every floor looks straight down the bay. Five bedrooms and five bathrooms hold sixteen people without anyone tripping over anyone else. The veranda wraps the whole living floor; hammocks hang where the view is best; and the days end at the pool, watching the sun drop behind the islands. It is ten minutes from the old town, and a world away from it.

The infinity pool sits at the front edge of the deck with its own waterfall, and beyond the water there is only forest, sea and the islands of Paraty Bay. Swim in the morning before the boats come out; stay in the evening, when the sky over the bay turns every shade of orange the coast can produce.

The living floor is one broad, open run of timber — a lounge with a huge retractable sofa and 60-inch TV, a glass dining table for eight, and a full kitchen with a marble island, five-burner cooktop, electric oven and everything down to the air fryer. Every room opens onto the veranda and the water beyond.

Down by the pool, the gourmet pavilion is built for the Brazilian institution of the all-afternoon lunch: a proper barbecue, a wood-fired stove with its own pans, double sinks, freezers, and a long timber table with benches for the whole crowd. Nobody has to leave the water to eat well.

The second floor is given over to play: a billiard table, foosball, a card table for four, board games, and three hammocks strung where the ocean view is widest. Rainy afternoons here are not a problem; they are a plan.
